June 7th - Bullara to Karratha.

As we were eating breakfast the next morning we had a visitor to our camp.

The plains turkey again, who is very tame and quite used to humans.

We then headed off towards Karratha stopping at the Nanaturra Road House for fuel.
After checking in to the Karratha Caravan Park we did some shopping and then drove out to Dampier which is on the coast.
Dampier was named after William Dampier who arrived in the area in 1699 and was one of the first explorers to record local flora etc.

The Dampier foreshore.
It was quite a small town but with a busy port. Salt is mined here and exported overseas as well as iron ore.
We returned to Karratha and cooked our dinner in the camp kitchen. We missed the friendliness of the Bullara Station people but we did have a chat with some permanent workers in the camp kitchen as we ate our meal.
