July 2nd - 4th Karijini to Bullara Station Stay.

This morning we got on the road about 8.30am but before we left camp We took photos of Bob picking up the dirt with his magnet. The dirt in the camp area has lots of iron in it.
Putting the magnet in the dirt.

Showing the dirt stuck to the magnet.

We then dove to the Visitor Centre as we wanted to make a few purchases. We also wanted to say hi to a lady, Mel, who worked at the Visitor Centre and who we had met at Running Waters.  After completing our purchases we drove to the Mt Bruce lookout as we had been told that we could get good views of Marandoo Mine and the mine’s agricultural project. Marandoo Mine are now mining below the water table and so they have to pump the water out. They are using the water to grow hay and alfalfa in huge irrigated areas. The water is also Tom Price’s water supply.
We found the view from the lookout a bit disappointing as the Mine and the paddocks were still a long way away.

Marandoo Mine in the distance.

We then drove into Tom Price and dropped off the wheel to have the tyre replaced. Then we shouted ourselves some lunch before doing the shopping.
They had a Coles there so. We were able to get most things we needed. We picked up the new tyre and then went to the caravan park to do some washing. Boring!!
The next day we drove to Paraburdoo, another Rio Tinto’s mining town.  Tom Price and Paraburdoo are very similar with houses all the same and lots of green lawns and gardens. They have enough shops to supply most people needs, however the locals must go to Karratha or Port Headland to do special shopping.
Our lunch tree.

After lunch we drove on for a couple of hours to a wayside stop called House Creek Bridge. We had a very pleasant evening there with a few other campers in the vicinity.

The next day we drove a much shorter distance to Bullara Station and set ourselves up in an unpowered site.
